  VHF DSC (FINDHORN)
  GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System) became fully operational in 1999. This latest development in marine communications adds a new feature to the long established VHF radio with the introduction of Digital Selective Calling (DSC). This one day course is designed for people wishing to obtain the Maritime Radio Operator Certificate of Competence - Short Range Certificate in order to legally operate the VHF equipment on their boat.

  An interesting and informative day, a must for all sailors and powerboat users. The course will include, safety equipment, knowledge about flares, a practical session of liferafts in a swimming pool and the prevention and treatment of hypothermia. This course will meet the RYA/DoT criteria for those seeking a commercial endorsement to their Yachtmaster Certificate.
Entry requirements: Water Confidant, Can use own Life jacket as check or use centers. Dress appropriately for Pool session. PLEASE NOTE this course IS open to non swimmers

  This one day First Aid course will provide a thorough grounding in first aid techniques with particular reference to small craft afloat. A valid first aid certificate is a requirement for the Coastal Skipper, Yachtmaster Offshore examinations as well as all RYA Instructor and BCU Coaching awards. Free First Aid manuals are distributed during the course for attendees to keep.
